Juniata High School Band

Disney World Trip - June 2000

This is the page for photos of the Walt Disney World trip.  I will be making this site look snazzy in a week or so.  Below, you'll see a flashing icon for Zing.  Click on that and it will take you to the photo albums.  On the left side of that page there is a search tool.  Select albums and type in the keyword juniata.  You should see a listing of our albums there.    I'll be putting up more photos over the next few weeks.  There will probably be around 100 per album.   You'll be able to tell if the site's been updated by looking at the update info at the top of this page.

Day 1 / Travel to Orlando

Everything went pretty much according to plan.  I am sitting in my comfortable Days Inn room getting these images out to the masses before the big pizza party.  I will upload again tonite, you'll find those images in Day 1.

I should mention that we had quite a thrill before landing in Orlando.  We were waved off at the last minute (and I mean, the last minute).  It seems that there was another plane blocking the runway.  No matter, most folks didn't even know what was happening until the pilot got on the radio.  There is a picture of him on the site as well.  The trip to the hotel was memorable.  We got to sit at a stop light for about 20-25 minutes.  The light was next door to a huge McDonald's.  The place even had a french fry box as part of it's facade.  On to the hotel to quickly check the rooms and unpack.  Then the kids headed for the pool and the adults headed for the pizza.

Day 2 / Magic Kingdom & Parade

Today was extremely long with over 600 pictures taken.  Needless to say I only posted a fraction of them that day.  The temperatures were in the ninety's and everyone was looking forward to getting back to the hotel and hitting the showers or the pool.  I'm typing this at 5 to midnite, so it looks like our 11 o'clock posting time is suffering a bit.  Please bear with us vacationers.

The parade was wonderful, our kids really outdid themselves and received a lot of compliments on their good behavior as well as their fine performance.  I have good and bad news to report on the picture front.  Most of my pictures of the band marching are quite blurred (low light).  I will post them, and when we get back I will post other folks photos as well.....talk to ya tomorrow!!!

Day 3 / Wet & Wild - Epcot

Here's the score so far......2 lost wallets, 2 lost tickets and a small accident at Wet & Wild.  For nearly 200 people with an average of less than 6 hours sleep we've got a pretty happy bunch.  Lots of fun today at the water slides and tidal pool, a quick lunch and off to Epcot.

We hit a few rides at Epcot.  Several of us dined at the Coral Reef Restaurant.  This is adjacent to the aquarium at The Living Seas.  So while eating, we watch all sorts of fish swim past our tables.  I think they we're just glad it wasn't them. :)  Also, for the adventurer, it is possible to swim with the sharks.  Provided you're scuba certified and over 16.  Now how cool is that?

As always, another great fireworks and laser display at the World Showcase Lagoon.  We're gonna try to get to bed before 2 am tonite, so just a few photos again.  Tell your friends to keep checking in with us.  Talk to ya later.

Day 4 / Disney Animal Kingdom - Disney/MGM Studios - Medieval Times

Let me put it to you this way.  It's been 3 long, INCREDIBLY HOT days.  It's after midnite the day we return and I can't keep my eyes open anymore.  No picture uploads tonite, but tomorrow look for some starting mid to late evening (around 9PM or so).  I took over 700 pictures today and I can tell you everyone is having a blast.  But everyone is also ready to come home.

Day 5 / Homecoming

We drag our tired butts to the bus / airport / airplane / bus / mom and dad's car / bed.  :)
